The Sinoville Crisis
Centre
The Centre is situated at the Sinoville Police Station, but
is a private initiative run by Dr Pixie du Toit, a Forensic
Criminologist in private practice. She is assisted by 35 volunteers
who come from various spheres of life, but are all trained
intensively in crisis intervention and emotional support.
The number of the Centre is 012-543-9000.
The Centre has been in existence for seven years, during which
time more than 17000 cases of traumatised people have been
counselled. All services rendered are free and confidentiality
is guaranteed.
Although the initial goal of the Centre was to help victims
of crime of the Sinoville Police area, people of all 28 police
stations in Pretoria, as well as from nearby towns such as
Rayton, Cullinan, Bronkhorstpruit, Bela-Bela, and even as
far away as Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana are referred
to the Centre. The centre does not give therapy, it only does
crisis intervention. |

The
centre works closely with other NGO’s as well as the
Dept of Education, Safety and Security and many churches.
The Centre receives no state funding and relies financially
on sponsorships from the business community, grants from churches
and also has its own fundraising projects.
The purpose of this page will be to keep the community updated
about what’s going on in our community, especially concerning
our children.

Plane Stress Clinic
This clinic opened at the Sinoville Crisis Centre on
31 January 2007. Because of a problem with manpower
at the moment, the clinic will only be open on Wednesdays
from 0800-1200. Treatment takes approximately 25 minutes
and is only done on appointment. You can phone for an
appointment Tel 012-543-9000. This service is also free
of charge.
At this stage we focus on stress-related disorders
such as anxiety, depression, headaches, insomnia, etc.
The Cranial Electro Stimulation apparatus uses weak
pulsed electrical currents which is applied to the head
for physical or psychological purposes. The over-use
of this apparatus is harmless as it works at current
levels similar to the body's own bio-currents. This
treatment does not replace the taking of medication
but could lead to the reduction of medication. Each
patient should however consult with his own medical
practitioner for guidance.
Results with the Elexoma Medic is more rapid when suffering
from an acute condition than when chronic conditions
are treated and results can be expected immediately,
within a few days to several weeks.
